Fish Oil for Fido
The pluses of taking Omega-3 fatty acids are well documented, with a plethora of benefits for the brain, heart, skin, joints, and eyes. If you're not now supplementing with Omega-3s you should reevaluate your nutritional protocol. But how about Omega-3s for our furry friends? Why can't they take advantage of the numerous benefits of Omega-3?

A while back, our two small dogs (a Bichon Frise and a Silky Terrier) began having regular episodes of limping, for no obvious reason. A number of visits to the vet revealed no evidence of injury though it was discovered both were afflicted with subluxating knee joints. Aside from surgery there was no real options. We began supplementing their meals with a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement made specially for dogs. After several months it was obvious this was not helping. The limping would still take place.

On one return visit to the vet we asked if there was a supplement that could alleviate their pain and he recommended fish oil. We started adding a half capsule of fish oil to their suppers each day. I am ecstatic to reveal that the fish oil beyond doubt made a huge difference!

At this time, a year later, both dogs have not had one limping episode! If your dog has comparable problems talk with your vet. Fish oil did the trick for our dogs.
